Project
Key Achievements
-
Redesigned Renterra’s website to better showcase its software products and services, improving clarity and user engagement.
-
Developed wireframes and user flows in Figma to enhance the usability and efficiency of the platform for equipment rental businesses.
-
Collaborated directly with the CEO and CTO, presenting weekly design updates that influenced strategic decisions and product direction.
-
Improved user experience by refining the interface and navigation, aligning the product with customer needs and industry best practices.
-
Contributed to Renterra’s early-stage growth, applying human-centered design principles to elevate its digital presence and usability.
Renterra is reimagining this space through modernizing the rental management industry by providing intuitive and user-friendly software solutions. When the company was just 3 months old, I came on to help redesign their website to reflect and to advance their software, from a user experience perspective.
The Process
01
Competitor Analysis + Familiarized with Software
-
Competitor Analysis: The competitor analysis was really to look at how competitors are marketing their product and organizing their website. I took notes of patterns, themes, stylistic choices.

-
Software Learning: I dedicated significant time to understanding Renterra's system and software. Since usability was a key focus, I paid close attention to areas that felt less intuitive and identified opportunities for improvement. Below are images of my notes on specific software components.

Software improvements - Equipment Calendar Redesign
From my discussions with the CTO and CEO, I identified specific usability issues and prioritized solving them. I focused on the reservation system within the calendar, where it was unclear which equipment was available on a given day and in what quantity. To improve this, I explored alternative presentation methods, drawing inspiration from analogous reservation systems like OpenTable, Airbnb, and Google Flights.

I presented this problem space to the CEO and CTO, and it resonated with them, leading me to design a potential solution. I proposed two approaches based on the user’s priority: one for securing equipment on a specific date and another for reserving a set quantity with flexible dates.
Idea #1: User selects the date first, and sees what quantity is available

Idea #2: User selects the quantity first, and the date second

They were enthusiastic about these ideas, so I refined the designs further, ensuring they aligned with Renterra’s style. Once finalized, I handed off the designs to the CTO for implementation.

Below is the photo of the calendar implemented within the software. As users click on the dates, the available inventory for the selected item is updated in real-time.
