IN 2019, I WENT TO TIBET.
During my gap year, I hiked the Annapurna Circuit in Nepal and visited Tibet. Through deep interactions with locals, my heart was opened up to the challenges many Tibetans face. What we consider to be basic human rights in the US are being violated in Tibet in almost every aspect right now: political oppression and violence, cultural and religious suppression, social and economic discrimination, and environmental destruction.
I was deeply moved by what I saw and heard. I felt I had to do something even though, at the time, I didn’t know what. Eventually, I found Students for a Free Tibet (SFT), a grassroots non-profit that campaigns for Tibet in nonviolent actions. I recently became their Graphic Design Intern, creating graphical campaigns, distributed via social media, aimed at educating and raising awareness.

I’ve had the opportunity to work on a number of incredible projects that I’m pleased to share. Not only was I able to practice and utilize my graphic design skills I was able to learn about grassroots activist work.
